History

The history is a humble beginning of Restoran Darussalam Curry House in Subang, Selangor serving Nasi Kandar Cuisine in the year 1991 by Dato’ Haji Mohamed Nijamudeen Bin Ibrahim. Later in 20th February 2002, Dato’ have decided to incorporate the business as Private Limited Company under the banner of Restoran Darussalam Sdn. Bhd.

Nasi Kandar Cuisine is the result of the fusion of Indian Cooking with Malaysian ingredients, which occurred due to the extensive Indian immigration to Penang Straits. The Indian Muslim community has spread this distinctive fusion cuisine throughout Malaysia, from Penang to Johor.

After 22 years of fine-tuning, product development and loads of hard work, we have what you see today. As of 2016, we have ten (10) restaurant outlets (under the name of Restoran Darussalam, Dapur Thai Tomyam & Zara Bistro). We currently serve over 30,000 customers a week.

Between year 2010 to 2015 were a busy years for us. Not only did we begin with an aggressive expansion in Food and Beverage Industry, but we also come with new idea and spirit to open Retail Market called Pasaraya Darussalam Sdn. Bhd.

Our stores stocked more than 40,000 items from health and beauty aids to household merchandise; small appliances, hardware and auto accessories; magazines, paper products, groceries, frozen foods, fresh items, school & office supplies, and seasonal merchandise,

From day one, our objective has been to deliver high quality goods at a great value to our customers, low prices, outstanding customer service and broad based product lines are at the heart of Parasaya Darussalam‘s growth and success.

As at May 2016, we have established four (4) mini market outlets in Putrajaya and one (1) in Serdang Selangor. The company also expects to announce further expansion within the year.

Food Policy

Each of us at Darussalam Group of Companies has a moral obligation to safeguard each other, our customers and the environment by aspiring to operate a safe, injury free and healthy workplace serving food that is always safe to eat and to minimize, our impact on the environment.
Our primary concern is that the food we serve is prepared to the very highest standards using quality products and ingredients and as the very minimum we will comply with all relevant legislation and approved codes of practice.
To ensure best practice we have developed a common minimum operating standard and set of behaviors which will be practiced at every location we operate. These are based on sound science, regulatory requirements, and industry best practice and are being introduced into all our operations and over the next five years will set the benchmark for our industry.
We will regularly measure compliance against these standards and implement performance objectives to assure our clients and customers that we are providing food which is safe to eat while meeting their quality expectations.
Specifically, we will ensure that:

  • Food is always prepared under sanitary conditions that do not expose it to the risk of contamination.
  • All employees are provided with the information, training and tools necessary to do their job in a hygienic and compliant manner.
  • Employees comply with all company food safety policies and procedures
  • Management assumes the role of supervision of our employees for compliance and conformance with this Policy.

We will also expect similarly high standards from our suppliers and contractors.
It is my responsibility as Managing Director to ensure that the appropriate resources, including human and financial ones, are committed towards implementing this policy across all our operations and communicating our policies and standards to all our employees.
Our food safety performance will be considered at every management meeting in Darussalam Group of Companies and the Board will review this policy annually to ensure that it continues to reflect the aims and aspirations of the company and keeps up to date with legislative requirements.

Achievements

In 2011, Pasaraya Darussalam Sdn. Bhd had rewarded “Anugerah Kedai Harga Patut 2011 from YB Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Bin Yaakob [Ministry of domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism].

On 16th October 2012 Pasaraya Darussalam had being reward as “Anugerah Kedai Pilihan Rakyat 1 Malaysia” by Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism. [YB Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Bin Yaakob].

In 2016, another reward “Anugerah Kedai Harga Patut 2016 from Ministry of domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism.
